Lil' Inker Designs Mini Release Blog Hop...

I am very excited today to be joining the girls over at Lil' Inkers for a Mini Release.  Today is my 40th birthday and what a fun way to spend the day, hopping along with lots of my friends!
The stamp I am using today makes me so happy!  It has such a fun message....

It is spring here in Kansas and the colors are coming alive.  I wanted to make a card using all the colors I am seeing outside.  I love this time of year!  We have had lots of rain and everything is blooming.  Here is my card using all those springy colors....

Untitled

Here is how I made this card:

1. First, I inked up the stamp on my Misti using Fresh Ink Strawberry, Peach, Chamomile and Basil.  I was able to re-stamp the image a couple of times after sponging on the ink, and got a great solid image.

2.  I cut out the main image with a stitched die.

3.  I masked off the card base and used the same colors to ink blend in the blocks of color to coordinate with the card futon.

4.  To finish it off, I added Glossy Accents to the "smile" on the front of the card.

Your next stop on this Lil' Inker Hop is Karen Baker!  The Lil' Inker Blog has a complete list of stops for today and all the info on the prizes!  Yes, there are prizes!  Be sure to common on all the blogs along the way because winners will be among all the hop comments.

So glad you stopped in today!

MFT Release Countdown Day 5...

So I have been waiting for this day for awhile.  I have a new fun craft favorite in the craft room.  I am trying to use is sparingly so you don't get sick of seeing me use it.  What is it you ask?

A cloud stencil.

(insert happy cheering here)

Yep that's it!  I love it so much!  Here is the card I made from the very first time using the new stencil....

Print

Its so super easy! And I love that the main focus is still on the bird and the sentiment, but the clouds just fill up the card with all that fun!  The bird and sentiment are from the new set called Seaside Seagulls which you will see more of later in the week.

To finish this card off, I added a thin white mat behind the main card front.  Then I added that piece to the card base with fun foam.

This was super easy to create and again....cloud stencil.  Love.

I made a fun little video too.  It shows a little of my excitement.  :)

Head on over to the MFT blog because there is lots more to see today.  This April MFT Release is pretty amazing!

A little Hello....

I love this fun little set called Springtime Blooms.  I needed a simple, one layer happy hello and this set worked it out perfectly.

Print

I masked off a little section on the bottom and drew in flicks of grass with 3 different colors of Copic markers.  Then I added in the flower and a simple sentiment.  Of course, I had to match it up with an envelope.  MFT has the GREATEST rainbow of envelopes.  You can check them out HERE.

So glad you stopped in today!  Have a great day!

Queen and Co Washi Fun...

Hey crafty friends!  I love Washi.  The colors, the patterns....its all so much fun!  And it helps to add fun details to a CAS card.  I have 2 cards today, using Queen and Company Washi.

This first card was super easy to create...

aprilwashi3

First, I scored every inch and then added a rainbow of washi in between.  I die cut a sentiment and then popped it up on green fun foam for a little pop of color.

I created a fun little scene with this next card....

AprilWashi1

I used an MFT set called springtime critters and added in a frog and sentiment.  I used some white twine and crated a washi banner for the background.  It was super easy to make by simply folding the washi over the twine and then cutting banner ends on each.  I paired it with a fun, bright yellow envelope.

Queen and Company has amazing washi and you can see it all by clicking HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping in today!

Creative Construction with Blueprints....

Hello there!  Every month, My Favorite Things, has a fun post that is dedicated to the Blueprints.  If you are new to MFT, Blueprints are a set of dies that all work together to create a card front, and with TONS of layout possibilities.  Each set of Blueprints comes with a printable pdf of sketches to get your creativity going.  Our challenge this month?  To use those sketches!

Mixing and matching Blueprints elements is such an appealing way of creating something new and exciting. Sometimes though, you need a card and you need it in a hurry…enter Blueprints sketches. Every new Blueprints release includes a quartet of sketches featuring the elements. You choose the papers and stamps to coordinate but the design is done for you - easy peasy! Join our team this month as they interpret Blueprints sketches and make them their own.

Here is my card for this months challenge.....

Print

I used Blueprints 32 (picture and sketch below) to create this layout.  I love that every detail is included and then mapped out for you.  Anytime I lose my creative mojo, it helps so much to go find a good sketch.

First, I did some distress ink blending with the Paisley Stencil from MFT.  I wanted to keep that background as a focal point in a way, by adding most of the other details in white.  By doing this, I feel like the white really pops too.  I added in the heart with Summer Splash card stock and then layered on the "sending hugs" sentiment.  After the card was assembled, I added glossy accents to the sentiment and sprinkled some white glitter on, just for a change of texture.  I could see the sentiment stand out even though it is still white on white.

Here is a quick pic of Blueprints 32....

All of the Blueprints come with a free printable sheet of Blueprint Sketches.  These are the perfect way to boost that crafty mojo.  Click HERE to see the Printable Resources over at MFT.

Below, I added a photo of the Sketches for Blueprints 32.  I used the top left sketch but I did change the rectangle so more of my background could show through.

There will be lots more to see using these Blueprint Sketches so stop over to the MFT Blog for more inspiration.  So glad you stopped in today!  Have a great day!

MFT April Card Kit

This one layer card would be easy to mass produce with any sentiment.  I just stamped the maze in a gray ink and then added in the red heart and black sentiment and done!  I combined it with a purple envelope that is also included in the kit.  Easy peasy!

MFT Card Kit Countdown Day 2....

Welcome to Day 2 of the MFT Card Kit Countdown.  This newest kit for April is called A-maze-ing and it really is!  I have another card to share today.  This time, I used one of the plastic mazes on the card, but more for decoration and not an actual maze.

Print
I used a piece of the Dots and Stripes patterned paper for the card base.  Using the Fishtail Flag Frames, (not included in the kit) I added a silver glitter frame down first.  I added in the circle die cut included in the kit and then stamped the maze pattered on the white circle.  I added in the plastic maze on top, but instead of using the maze pouch, I just added in a sentiment.  I used another Fishtail Flag and heat embossed the sentiment to layer on top of the maze.  Last, I added some cardstock strips along the bottom of the card and finished it off with some glossy accented stars.

MFT April Card Kit

The MFT Blog will have lots more to see so head on over there!  The kit will be available tomorrow, April 18th at 8pm CST.

Thanks so much for coming by today!

MFT Card Kit Countdown....

Ok, friends.  The April Card Kit is almost here and.....wow.  It's SO much fun!

Here is a sneak peak of the A-maze-ing Card Kit for April....

MFT April Card Kit

The kit includes an adorable stamp set, black and white plastic mazes, small silver maze spheres and everything it takes to make the most adorable maze cards.  For this card, I took the maze stamp and stamped it in Versamark on a Blu Raspberry card stock panel.  I added in the red heart onto the white circle die cut, then glued down the plastic maze, added the silver sphere and then the shaker pouch.  It all goes together so well....and looks even better with the matching red envelope....also included in the kit!  :)

Head on over to the MFT Blog to see more sneak peeks for this months card kit.  Stop back by tomorrow for another peek!  Have a great day!
